Loud Silence

Potent making of monsters stems from loud silence.

Note: Sumana over at Poets United asks us to write about “Silence”.

After reading Sanaa Rizvi’s important and relevant post “Rage Against the Machine” about racial prejudice, I was reminded of a quote by Martin Luther King, Jr. “In the End, we will remember not the words of our enemies, but the silence of our friends.”

Are you keeping the right kind of silence?

  1. Heavy.

This sadly is the state of our world. Our differences driving us apart . The ignorance of some. Others unwilling to say “This is wrong”

    Nice pic too.

  2. “Potent making of monsters stems from loud silence.”
Shhh. No! Be loud, speak true! We slay the monsters.

  3. What strong and brave pronunciation!! Loud silence is a crime when circumstances need voices. Great line, dear friend.

  4. Silence is as important as darkness, when it comes to breeding things. Some silences is good and necessary (while the thinking is being done). Others… well, not so good, for the feed the things that come back to rip our still tongues and all the miracles we could’ve spoken into being.

  5. Wow! Powerful quote highlighting the power of silence…it can be an immense force. The photograph is amazing and surreal and perfect accompaniment to the post. Wonderful, thought-provoking post, Khaya.
